Case Study
Story of
Waksan Susi
A 63-year-old Indonesian mother with ailments was missing all the conveniences in her life until she met Legacy Care Solutions.
Waksan Susi, a 63 years old individual with limited mobility and motor skills, lives all by herself and somehow gets by with her daily life. She used to work and lived in a rental apartment nearby. She was diagnosed with a tumour on her neck in May 2019 and has been suffering from a lack of mobility and deteriorated motor skills since her tumour operation. Her children live in Indonesia, and she has no one to look after her. She was struggling with her daily chores, and now as she has become a part of our program, we are doing everything according to her plan to support her in a manner that would improve her life.
After her tumour operation, Susi spent her days in a rehabilitation centre for nearly a month. She now lives in a one-bedroom villa rented from public authority since September 2019. She struggles with her daily chores as she experiences pain when she tries to do household tasks for too long. She is even unable to do her personal care tasks properly.
She even has to walk to the grocery shops to collect her daily necessities. It takes a very long time for her to walk to the shop, and she can only carry a few things. Also, she has to take public transport to her medical appointments. You can imagine how difficult it is to do all of these on her own with her disabilities at this age.
Susie’s disability made it very challenging for her to carry on her daily life activities and her community access. She lacks communication skills, and hence she hardly has any friends.
Once Susi enrolled in our program, we started providing her assistance with her NDIS funding and have helped her to be more involved in the community because she was not able to get out of her house very often. Now she does, with the help of our Support Workers.
Waksan has preferred the same language Support Worker, and we have provided her with a Support Worker who speaks her language.
